Help & User Guide

Find quick answers, step-by-step guides and explanations for Vanloom.

Getting Started

  1. Sign in or create an account

Use your email and password to sign in. A new account just needs a name, email and password.

  2. Add your camper

Only a name is required to start. Brand, model, year and purchase details are optional and can be added anytime.

  3. Start wherever matters most

Add a Project or Item in Build, a service or repair in Care, or a Trip, Place or Memory in Journey — whatever's relevant right now.

  4. Let Vanloom connect it

A completed repair becomes a cost entry, a trip feeds your lifetime numbers on Home, an uploaded document shows up in Documents — automatically.

  5. See it come together on Home

Home brings together what you've built, what needs attention next, and your journey so far.

Home

Home is your starting point — a live overview of your active camper. It's organized into Your Van (status and what you've completed), Your Journey (a preview of your Memories and lifetime numbers), and What's Next (what needs attention and upcoming trips). Home only displays information — you make changes in the area each item comes from.

Adding or editing your camper

On first launch, use Add Camper. Later, go to Home → Details → Edit. A name is the only required field — everything else can be added or changed anytime.

Understanding Needs Attention

Needs Attention collects open items from four areas — Repairs, Service, Build and Payments — sorted by urgency. Tap View all for the full list, or tap any item to jump straight to it.

Logging your mileage

Use the Log mileage quick action to record a date and current reading. Mileage entries can't be edited afterwards — if you make a mistake, delete the entry and add a new one.

Build

Build is where you track what you build — individual parts (Items) and larger projects (Projects) that group Items and work steps (Project Tasks) together. A Van Hack is simply an Item you mark as a personal upgrade.

Adding an Item

Use the Item + quick action, enter a name and choose a status (Planned, Purchased, In Progress, Installed or Discarded). You can link it to a Project and add cost, product and installation details at any time.

Creating and managing a Project

Use Project + and give it a name. From the project, add Project Tasks and Items directly — a project's cost and progress are calculated automatically from the Items linked to it.

Working with Project Tasks

Tasks live inside a project and move open → ongoing → done as you tap their status dot. A cross-project view of every open task is available from Projects. Tapping a task from Home's Needs Attention opens its parent Project rather than a separate task screen.

Care

Care covers your camper's ongoing upkeep: Maintenance & Costs (service schedules and your cost ledger), Repairs (damage and repair tracking), and Documents (every file in one place).

  • Maintenance & Costs
  • Repairs
  • Documents
Completing a service

Open the due item in Maintenance & Costs and choose Complete. Confirm the date and optionally add the actual cost — the next due date is calculated for you.

Recording a damage and repair

Use Add damage for a title, category, description and up to three photos. Add a repair when you're ready, then use Mark resolved to confirm the date it was actually fixed.

Understanding automatic costs

Costs from a completed service or repair are added to your ledger automatically (marked "Via Service" or "Via Repairs") and can only be corrected from that original service or repair — not directly in the ledger. A few categories, like maintenance or repair, only ever appear this way and can't be added manually.

Journey

Journey is where you keep your trips, your reusable Places, and your Memories from each day of travel.

  • Places

Adding a Trip

A Trip Name and Start Date are enough to save a trip. Add an end date, a place, stops, cost or a rating whenever you're ready.

Rating a stay

A quick Overall rating is enough. Use Add more detail if you'd like to note specific features or a few words about the stay.

Working with Places

Places are reusable locations you can edit, merge or delete. Editing a Place only affects future trips — your saved history keeps the details as they were at the time. Since region and country are free text, near-duplicate places can happen; use Merge to combine them.

Adding Memories

Add up to three photos per day of travel, and mark one as a favorite. A short note is available once a day has at least one photo.

Insights

Insights turns what you've already recorded in Build, Care and Journey into an overview over time — Investments, Projects, Costs, Travel and Efficiency. It's read-only: you always make changes in the area an entry came from. Travel here is simply the Insights view of the same trip data you keep in Journey.

Switching between Annual and Compare

Annual shows one year (or All time). Compare shows two years side by side with an all-time column for reference.

Jumping to the source

Tap a row — like a recent item or trip — to open the original entry. Back returns you to the same Insights tab you came from.
